Lee Latchford-Evans is a British singer and songwriter, best known as a member of the pop group Steps, formed in 1997. The group is celebrated for its catchy pop melodies, energetic dance routines, and a revival of the Eurodance genre in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Steps achieved significant commercial success with chart-topping hits like "5, 6, 7, 8," "Tragedy," and "Stomp." Their debut album, "Step One," released in 1998, sold over a million copies in the UK alone. Latchford-Evans contributed to the group’s signature sound with his vocal harmonies and choreography. Following the group's initial split in 2001, he pursued solo projects, including acting and musical theater, but Steps reunited in 2011 and continued to tour and release new music, such as their album "Tears on the Dancefloor" in 2017, which garnered critical and commercial acclaim. Steps' impact on music includes popularizing a distinct brand of pop that combines catchy hooks with dance elements, influencing a generation of pop acts. Latchford-Evans remains a prominent figure in British pop culture and continues to perform with the group.
